When I bought the second (brand new) speaker, the noise was there right out of the box. I thought it might be a failure of some kind. I've owned my used speaker for six months and it never disappeared. Notice that the five star review mentions that the issue disappeared after ten minutes. I found only two mentions of it on a couple amazon reviews that I've linked below. I looked all over the internet for mentions of this sound. Might have been a bad choice, but I'm bass addicted so I needed a 3-way. Shouldn't be an issue for a midfield monitor right? I agree, but the funny thing is that I use these in a small room so they are practically nearfield monitors for me. It's very quiet, and you will only notice it if you put your ear to the mid driver, or the speaker is practically right in front of you while it's quiet. It's a digital sounding tone that changes pitch randomly, and sometimes sounds musical. I noticed not long after receiving the first one (used) that it produces a hum that sounds like a radio frequency. Recently bought a brand new 10-3G4 to go with my used one (bought on ebay for $280!) that I was using for casual listening, amateur mixing, and general stuff. If I had to chose between the 10-3 I've heard (the previous gen.) and the Adam A77X I would pick the 10-3, I preferred it's sound. Even though the sound signature is very different on my Neumanns - and obviously the Neumann is better but it's also 4x-5x more expensive -, I have to say the 10-3 or KRK's V6S4 or V8S4 are surprisingly good speakers even comparing them to way more expensive systems. I use Neumann KH310 speakers (and I love them). The 10-3's are way more revealing than the Rokit's. I honestly don't know of any real 3 way competition at the sub £900 price range (the Adam A77X is nearly 2x more expensive and it has got a double mid range driver, in this sence it is not a "real" 3 way). For some reason (I guess it's because most people only ever heard the Rokits) people think about KRK's as some kind of a toy speaker brand but for example their old top of the line KRK Expose E8B is still one of my all time favorite speaker (though deadly heavy at 35kg each).īack to the original question: I've only heard the previous generation 10-3 and other than the bit annoying base noise level it was a great speaker at it's price.

V series monitors even the discontinued VXT6 are really good speakers for their respective price. I consider changing them for HEDD type 20 these days but I can recommend 10-3 to everyone especially given the price. They sound flat, coherent and analytical. And when you turn them on you are afraid that you will hear something clumsy, incoherent and boomy sounding. And this is quite opposite to my Genelecs (8040), which sound very cool, you have an impression that you control everything and then you take your job to the mastering studio and it turnes out that it sounds incompatible.ġ0-3’s are big monitors. The sound is not “easy” but they do the job well. What was always striking me is the fact that despite you may blame KRK for some uninspiring sound, what you will produce will sound good elsewhere. About KRK in general: I own also RP8 (I hate them) and my son has a pair of white RP5. 2) for about 5 years and I use them along with Genelecs 8040 as a main monitor. Do they actually deliver the advantages of a decent three way or are you just getting Rockit quality sound with more bass extension?Hi ! An old thread but someone could use the information. But in another thread Erion was showing off the beautiful job he did flush mounting them and said that they were a different beast that stand up well against the Adam a77x-high praise.Īnyone out there have any experience with the 10-3? Reviews are hard to come by and stores (when they're open) don't have them on the floor to demo. I had ignored the KRK 10-3 G4 thinking it would perform more or less like its budget Rockit siblings.
